1023CR18-9_Rotifer_Complete

A large rotifer, photographed under dark field.
1023CR18-11_Rotifer_Detail

A higher magnification view of the same rotifer. Notice the hairs around its face and the red spot on its "forehead" - an infra red sensor.
1023CR21-4_Daphnia

There were swarms of Daphnia (water fleas) in the Tarn. So many that they overloaded the net. Unfortunately, once left in a bottle overnight, my samples were rather the worst for wear. This one was photographed whilst it was still fresh!
1023CR20-30_Daphnia_Dark_Field

Another view of a daphnia, this time by dark field.
1023CR21-6_Daphnia_Dark_Field

Yet another daphnia.
1023CR21-11_Volvox_Dark_Field

A limited number of Volvox were available. This one was photographed under dark field. The specimen was "swimming" and rotating as it moved around the field of view. A similar sample was observed reproducing.
1023CR21-12_Dark_Volvox_Dark_Field

Another Volvox.
1023CR21-25_Netrium_&_Closterium

Two species of desmid. The one that looks like a gherkin is Netrium. The one that looks more like a cucumber is closterium.
1023CR21-30_Closterium

This is another example of Closterium.
